Meet the dentist

Dr. Akeele Johnson-Vallot, DDS, MSD

Dr. Akeele Johnson-Vallot, D.D.S., M.S.D., (affectionately known as Dr. JV) served active duty as a Dental Officer with the 4th Brigade 10th Mountain Division in the US Army for seven years, to include a tour in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012-2013.  Dr. JV currently serves as a Reserve Dental Officer with the 7242 MSU in Gulfport, MS.  Dr. JV entered the dental world by first becoming a Registered Dental Hygienist from the University of California, San Francisco in 2003. Dr. JV later received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Meharry Medical College, Nashville, TN in 2011. She furthered her education by completing an Advanced Education of General Dentistry residency at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in 2012 as well as receiving a Master of Dental Science Degree, specializing in Pediatrics at LSU in 2020.

Just a few short months after receiving her Master’s degree, Dr. JV relocated to Alexandria with her husband, Dex, and their dog, Benjamin. She has always had a heart for children and helping those who are less fortunate. After working at Kid’s Dental Zone and Rapides Primary Health Care Center, she realized the severe lack of resources available for the Special Needs population, and formulated a plan to “be the change” so desperately needed. She and her husband purchased a vacant building on Masonic Drive and poured everything they had into rehabilitating the building over the next eighteen months. In February, 2024, the once empty, blank space has transformed into a state-of-the-art facility, fully functional and ready to receive those in need. Dr. JV is dedicated to helping the underserved community of CENLA. That which once was merely a vision, is now a reality and she is ready to give back to the community in a major way, starting with providing care for their dental needs.

Dr. JV is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Louisiana Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southwestern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the Special Care Dentistry Association and the American Dental Association.

Her initial inspiration to become a dentist that welcomes all patients, regardless of economical class or stature, was her son, Jordan.  Earlier in life, she was once denied service at a dental office due to her son’s Medicaid status. At that very moment, she made a vow that one day she herself would become a dentist that accepted children no matter what dental insurance plan they possessed. Aside from her son, Jordan, Dr. JV also has two beautiful step-daughters, Raegan & Reese, and a “g-baby”, Veronica, that has enough personality and cuteness to be an actress! During her spare time, you can find her working in her yard, as she is an avid exotic plant collector and connoisseur. She also loves to cook and travel with her husband.
